The Disabled Friendly Park at Jawahar Bal Bhavan, Cubbon Park, Bengaluru, was designed as an inclusive landscape environment where children with and without disabilities can play, interact and experience the park together.
The project responds to the need for a common play environment that promotes equity, engagement and a sense of belonging. Its design brings together landscape planning, site planning and a biomorphic design concept to create spaces that encourage children to explore, participate and interact.

Biomorphic Architecture Inspired by the Tortoise
The concept behind the park design is biomorphic architecture. The design is derived from the abstract form of a tortoise, representing the steady pace of children's progress in learning and socialising.
The zoning of the spaces replicates the body of the tortoise, translating the concept into the organisation of the park and its activity areas.

Creating an Inclusive Play Environment
The major design challenge was to create a park that could be inclusive for all children, with or without disability.
Rather than separating children based on their abilities, the project sought to create common grounds where children could play, interact and experience the park together.
